As probably everyone wanting to dive into the sport of triathlon, I have done some reading. There are a lot of good books on triathlon training, but some of them stand out from the others. While triathlon consists of running, cycling and swimming I have listed some books that cover only one of the disciplines as well.

The Triathlete’s Training Bible: This book is the absolute bible in the field of triathlon. Joe Friel is an experienced triathlete and also has a masters degree in exercise science. The book gives tips about training, planning, eating and the competition.

Lore of Running is a very detailed book about running. It’s probably the most detailed and the best book about running out there. This book teaches you about everything there is to know about running. From 10k up to ultramarathon. You will learn how the body adapts to your training, how to train and much, much more.

The Swim Coaching Bible Above all, this book is full of training programs that you can use for your own training.

Going Long: Training for Ironman-Distance Triathlons (Ultrafit Multisport Training Series) This is another good book from Joe Friel.

Serious Cycling This book is from the coach of Lance Armstrong. Has a lot of tips for training on the bike.
